The client contacted us as they wanted to upgrade their existing, wooden kitchen which looked dated and wasn't very practical for her aging mother. She wanted a more practical kitchen that was easy to clean and was more accessible with better storage. The client can now access all the produce, bottles and kitchen utensils with ease. After having several meetings with the clients to really understand their requirements, we worked with Eternal Kitchens to create a floor plan that would work with the space that we had. We incorporated two different colours and textures to bring in interest while keeping the room light. We found a beautiful tonal wood effect tiles that was laid in a herringbone fashion. The colours of the tiles work well with the colours of the kitchen units. The radiators, electrical switches were chosen in anthracite to complement the units. We researched the kitchen appliance making sure that they were easy and practical to use for an elderly person. The walls and ceilings were colour drenched to keep the eye moving around and to make the room look bigger. The directional, recessed lighting was key to illuminate the whole kitchen. The separate utility area with the stacked washing machine and dryer works well, giving the client easy access when required. Both areas were finished off in a beautiful quartz worktop which is easy to maintain.
The result is a stunning space with lots of light, clean surfaces and storage.
