Contemporary Modern Home, Surrey, England
This beautiful 3 story victorian building had just been finished by the developer but it lacked a certain homeliness and the personality of its new owners, after a recommendation we were appointed as interior designers and to use our expertise in lighting design to transform the property into a warm and inviting family home that had an understated hint of luxury and glamour while remaining fully functional to both family life, business life and entertaining.
After carefully listening to our clients the brief became a clear breakdown of uses over the three floors. We wanted to work with as many of the high quality materials already in place like the solid Oak floors and carpets, and add details and layers of interest where the property needed it.
The ground floor is a fully functioning family area with a south facing kitchen area that backed onto the rear garden acting as the hub of the property.
The large windows ensures the natural light in this room is fantastic! The high ceilings mean the room feels very spacious but also has plenty of wall space that needs breaking up.
We created the stunning fireplace feature wall with split faced stone tiles from floor to ceiling and then positioned three directional down lights in 3000 kelvin above to cast highlights and shadows down the surface. This sits next to our custom media cabinet in mystery Oak to house toys an av equipment.
There are accents of Teal such as the three Torus pendant lights above the island and soft furnishings like the rug and cushions in matching colour while the ceiling recess was finished in metallic champagne coloured plaster that shimmers with the cornice lighting detail running the entire edge of each recess.
A dining room with tall triple height atrium above sits alongside and includes custom sound proofed artwork to help soften the acoustics.
The drawing room at the front of the house was created as a more grown up adult room to be used as an entertaining and relaxing space. Again we used a rich ceiling covered in a golden metalic plaster and illuminated all the way around with 3000k LED all controlled by Rako and Crestron. Custom furniture with leather drawers and doors sits either side of the fire place on gold tinted stainless steel legs.
Tv cabinet has sliding pocket hinged doors so it can be viewed from all locations in the room without being a focal point when not in use.
Illuminated custom built shelving all connected to the integrated lighting system. Designed to line up perfectly between the skirting and top of the door frame.
Antique wheel is illuminated with a focused spot light to show off the stunning texture and add warmth and detail to the room. Playing with scale and size between the elements of furniture, wall mirrors, artworks and lamp shades.
