Client Brief
To shift a very traditional living room into a more contemporary space by making subtle changes and adding personality with strong colour, detail and texture.

Solutions
The original wall colour, was safe and even though there was a feature colour on the chimney breast it wasn't really a feature. The client wanted something bold to make the room appear more "edgy". An off black was chosen to contrast the oak furniture and to make the brickwork inside the fireplace pop. The black walls also helped to showcase the client's art collection.
Some accent furnishings were added in mustard and ocre to echo the artwork on the chimney breast and the orange in the client's rug. The skull cushions on the bitter chocolate velvet sofa worked to lift that side of the room adding an unconventional accent.
