Small kitchen redesign- Before, during and after photos

As someone who has worked in the kitchen industry for the last 6 years, I have never actually undertaken a kitchen project of my own...until now! Here you can follow the progress of our entire kitchen remodel in pictures, from the final design renders we agreed on, through to the completion of our beautiful new Pearl grey kitchen.

Removing our old kitchen units...This was our boiler in it's original position, but it had to be turned through 90 degrees (which you can see in the next photo) in order to fit the units we wanted within our new design.

The kitchen has now been stripped bare, and you can clearly see the new position of the boiler.

Our walls are freshly plastered, and the room is almost clear and ready for the new installation.

We encountered a problem on removing the old furniture which was a cut out within the wooden floor. We didn't have any spare off-cuts of wood to cover this, but this problem was later solved by moving the new run of units flush with the doorframe- this was not the position originally intended for...

Highly experienced in fitting German kitchens, our fitter knows exactly what he's doing (which is reassuring given his collection of power tools!)

Our fitter was careful to tell us (and show us!) when it wasn't safe to enter the room.

All of the furniture is accurately measured using a laser measurer (evident here with a red beam).

Our base units are now in, and the room is beginning to take shape. The far left wall unit was damaged on delivery, which was picked up before it was even delivered to us, and a replacement ordered. The damaged unit was fitted so there wouldn't be a hole, whilst waiting on the new one arriving.

Our wall units now have doors, which are finished in white matt laser.

Our worktop is accurately templated. As well as dimensions, each template sheet includes our Name as a customer reference, and the worktop finish we have chosen.

Our sockets and switches are fitted within a base unit cupboard so they are easily accessible but unobtrusive.

Our worktop has been cut off-site and now brought into our home for installation.

This corner was a headache during the design stage in order to create the very look we wanted, but fortunately has proved a success during installation!

The worktop we have chose is Compac Carrara quartz.

We love the blend of the white sink with the Compac Carrara.

Our worktop is in place and fitted, with the dishwasher beneath and to the left, the sink base in the middle, and space for our washing machine on the right.

Having never cooked with induction before we are excited to use our new Flex Induction hob.

The worktop fitters bevelled the edge of our worktop corner to soften the sharp edge and make it safer for people walking past.

A spice shelf rather than a void above our extractor created extra storage space.

The top and side of our wall units have now been scribed, creating a more elegant and finished look.

I mentioned earlier on that when we removed our old kitchen units, we discovered a cut-out in the wood floor. By pushing the run of units to the right from where we had intended them to be, this covered the cut-out. It also created space on the right hand side of the run for an extra storage...

Our waste disposal is fitted beneath the sink. In this photo you can also see our worktops are covered ready for painting.

Our microwave is fitted in place above the oven. (If you're looking at this photo and thinking the microwave is a little high, my husband is 6 ft 4, and he's the only one who uses it!)

We chose 'Warm' kitchen lights as these were more effective in highlighting the green hue of our Teal splashback (under a 'Cool' light tone this looked too blue).

We had some shelving built within the cupboard in front of our boiler to let us make best use of this. At the same time we introduced British Gas's 'Hive' remote access for our boiler so we wouldn't need to pull all of the shelving out whenever we needed to reach this.
