The Playfair at Donaldson’s is a building of immense beauty, character and an iconic landmark in Edinburgh’s West End. This particular apartment benefits from stunning stained glass windows, gorgeous architectural detail and provided an amazing canvas from which to work from. The Brief was very much to add in key pieces of furniture, pops of jewel colours to bring out the rich tones in the stained glass windows and to work alongside the architectural detail without detracting from the sheer beauty and magnitude of the space. The formerly white stark walls were painted in a soft putty grey to add warmth and the use of rich velvets, opulent tones, luxurious marble finishes and layering of textures created a truly luxurious feel.
