My front room has a beautiful old walnut fireplace, but the only person who see it is my 17 year old son as it’s been his x-box room for the past 6 years. I don’t mind too much as it means he’s downstairs rather than in his loft room hiding away all weekend! One day I’ll reclaim it, not sure what for though.

The solution looks clear from reading the article - take the tv out of the kitchen!

Yep, describes my dilemma! I even added a TV point in the front room, but when I tried it out with the TV, it didn’t work. I and a friend do use it as a morning office, though, as the light streams in then. I have a fantasy of replacing the wall with glazed doors, folding preferably... but we’ll see.
