Our client approached us to fit Plantation Shutters inside their new orangery. Beautiful colour choice, split level openings & detailed design with exposed tilt rods that really compliment this wonderful space.

David Salisbury was commissioned to design and build a timber bespoke orangery for a period style lodge house, situated in rural Wiltshire.
This charming period property, constructed of stone with a slate roof, required a sympathetic design to complement and enhance what was already an extensive ground floor space, to capitalise on the views of the mature gardens.
As is often the case with older properties, parts of the ground floor suffered from lower levels of natural light.
In addition, the previous footprint of the house meant that the connection between the kitchen and existing dining room was somewhat disjointed.
The proposed orangery design needed to be in keeping with and in proportion to that of the host dwelling, whilst creating space internally for a new dining room, adding in natural light and opening up views of the surrounding garden.
Measuring exactly 5 metres wide by approximately 3.9 metres deep, the new orangery has a total base area of some 18 square metres.
The lovely contemporary shade of Mendip Grey, from our selected colour palette, finished the timber joinery.
David Salisbury was commissioned to undertake a full planning application for the proposed orangery, along with applying for building regulations approval.
For peace of mind and convenience, our customer engaged us on a full ‘turnkey’ contract, which included all building works as well as the supply and fit of the orangery.
This type of contract, which sees a single supplier employed to plan, design and build a project through to completion is one of many unique benefits of working with David Salisbury – and something that is not widely available throughout the industry.
Finished in time for Christmas 2022, this bespoke orangery is another successful example of how David Salisbury’s exquisite extensions enhance and transform the living spaces for discerning property owners all around the country.

Sun Room / Porch is a former outdoor space enclosed into a year-round room, inspired by a Christmas party when the original outdoor space was covered by the caterer with a large white tent with clear sides. The morning after, the clients loved the beauty and cozyness of the space so much that we made the "tent" permanent! The brick floor is covered by a room-sized custom area rug, and the furniture is by Lloyd Flanders. Custom pillows by William West Designs. Photo by Moye Colquitt.

This attractive orangery kitchen extension is the latest in a long line of successful projects from David Salisbury that underlines there is no slowdown in our love for open plan kitchens.
More than just an orangery, the customer’s brief was to create an open plan kitchen living space the whole family could enjoy and also to open up the house to the garden.
Expertly designed by Rudy Staal, one of our more experienced and creative sales designers, the project involved a few notable aspects. But, in the first instance, it required creativity and persistence in getting the design right, something which involved both Rudy and the customer.
“The kitchen features an old bread oven surround – a left over from when the old boy who grew up and lived here served the bread to the local village,” as the customer noted. “So we decided to make a feature of the surround which is now a cupboard within our new kitchen.”
The new orangery, painted in the contemporary shade of Mendip Grey, has added significantly to the floor area of the property. There is now a bespoke kitchen with a central island unit and breakfast bar with space for 4 bar stools. The perimeter flat roof, around the roof lantern, is a hallmark of an orangery and means the relevant extraction unit was able to be installed. At the other end of the room is space for a large dining table and chairs, meaning the entire extended family can gather for social occasions.
The double sets of French doors allow convenient access to the patio and garden area, which looks just as appealing in Summer as it did under the snow earlier this year.
“We have had so many positive comments from friends and visitors - it is pretty jaw-dropping,” the customer noted. “We can finally have the whole family in one room, as we did over Christmas. What a party venue we have. Thank you!”
It only seems right to let the customer have the final word: “Thank you for all you have done for us - we literally love it!”

The brief for this snug was bright and funky. A patterned rug and yellow accents throughout form the basis of this design with the teal wall colour creating a bright and inviting space!
