So today I'm leaning towards F&B's Pigeon! Although I don't feel 100%. I'm worried I'm going to create some garish crazy fun house if I use too many colours. I'm hoping instead to create a cool, slightly retro feel but in a grown up sophisticated!! I have made one decision which is to rule out Egyptian cotton purely on the grounds we have so much of it in the new area, I think it would be overkill in the hall, plus the WC is light (timeless) so it might end up being too bland if I add more neutral. Bleached Lichen I still don't think it ties in brilliantly so essentially not much clearer as to what to do!!!! ED thanks for your comment, they're the original 1960 stairs so fail to comply with any H&S standards, but I like them so they're staying! I think at some point I will remove the paint on the rail but I will be a tricky job. Can't remember what the wood under the carpet is like but I would worry about people slipping down the stairs if there were no carpet.

Hi, congratulations on your new home purchase ! Neutral for the entire home is a good idea if you want a consistent feeling and flow through the house, however I would consider looking at something that has a tad of interest or texture so that it doesn't become something you might get bored with? Also, I would personally try to avoid going down the grey route for an entire home, it can become over-powering. I have recently worked with wool carpets and depending on the rest of the style of your home I would highly recommend this - the have a lovely loop-style texture and a great range of neutral colours that are really versatile. They are also very comfortable and good for insulation if 100% wool. Here is one I have used previously, close-up and as a normal view which only subtly shows the different texture. The wall colour here is Natural Hessian by Dulux, and it compliments it well in all lights. I hope that helps or gives you some inspiration! Thanks, Danielle.
