We have a cooker on the island but we love cooking and socialising. Many a dinner is spent talking to family and friends whilst we cook. It’s nice to be part of the hun whilst you cook. With an induction hob once dinner is finished and everything cleared away the island looks great and you can use the island to relax and have drinks etc We also have a sink on the same island. You are right Adam if you have a busy family then the sink area is always busy and unless you are really disciplined realistically it does tend to look cluttered even if you do have a dishwasher. It really depends on how you work in the kitchen.

Love the revised plans! Personally, I’d be worried about heating such a vast open space, especially with a wall of glazing. I would consider including an option that would allow the family area to be opened up or closed off the with some partitions or maybe a log burner? I agree with Jonathan, I think the family room is large enough to accommodate a play area for the kids, just need to zone separate areas with storage, rugs, etc. If you bring the sofas in closer to the dining area the kids can have a play area with storage running along the lounge/family wall. Maybe consider reducing the base units in the utility room to just a straight run of units against the window? You’d have more room to manoeuvre, have better access to the washer /dryer and a little bit of space to hang up items that can’t go in a dryer. Can’t quite make out the measurements but maybe a tall 30/40cm cleaning cupboard in a corner, baby Belfast sink in the middle and washer and dryer either side. Wildcard - laundry hatch from the upstairs landing to the utility!

Thanks Sarah - The bathroom could go over a fair amount but it to keep access to the main bedroom through the arch we'd need a second "step out" in the wall, which we wondered if it would look a bit odd? Yes the bedroom 1 door opens inwards - no idea why it shows that way! yes the door will open inwards.

I agree with the others. A larger samsung frame tv on the wall but have the cable chased in the wall and store the “boxes” in the wood cupboard. I’d add a small accent chair “under” the tv, something on legs like the mid century modern ones with wood frames. i would just have a normal sofa but agree pull away from the wall. I just looked at your other post. it’s a really stunning apartment but i think shelves may close the kitchen in. Use that alcove in the living area (where they have the floor lamp) for a bespoke bookcase for your books.
