Kitchen filter tap

Can anyone recommend a good kitchen filter tap? The place we are getting our new kitchen from only stocks one made by Zeus. I cannot find any reviews on it though on the net. There are other brands that make filter taps including Brita but I'm not sure which brand is best.

Any recommendations?

A good one I know of is Grohe, all their taps are great :))

My MIL has a Franke one - she likes it, but I think it's too slow.

I'm afraid that's about all I know; the reason I'm commenting though is to tell you to avoid Aquifier filter cartridges for the Adobe safelock - that's what we have in our kitchen and hate it - the water has a funny metallic taste. We changed the filters twice, thinking maybe we got a faulty one, but the yucky taste persisted. Maybe a Brita system would be worth it; their filters are great!...

Thank you. I'm thinking either Brita or Astini. I know Grohe do great taps but they're so expensive!

Can anyone recommend a whole house water softener too for limescale prevention?

I think the key to being creative is knowing what you like, what you can buy, and then accepting that usually it doesn't exist.................so go down the 'create it yourself route'. By that, I mean have a plumber make what you want out of copper fixings, then you can have an older looking type of tap set up. Copper is easily bent and soldered so you can pretty much have whatever your heart desires with the right guy to install it. I think you'll need to get your head around the fact that 'copper taps' are a new thing, old fashioned taps were brass and still are. You can mix up the two metals without any problem. Just get creative and get a good plumber!

We have a boiling tap - wouldn’t be without it. We were able to afford it when I found that Franke, better known for kitchen sinks, also do boiling taps. Small point but worth making - be careful when installing your boiling tap of choice to ensure easy access to the isolating mechanism on the water pipe(s) so you can turn off the water when you need to replace the filter cartridge. We had to have ours moved when the kind person who helped me change the filter each time was no longer able to do so and it was down to me, who couldn’t reach the lever which had been sited behind the waste disposal machine under the sink.

Its an Aerator and they come in all different sizes. See if there's a manufacturer's name on the tap and look on their website, if you can't find out who makes it you could remove the aerator and take it to you local plumbers merchants and they can see if they have a replacement. They block up with limescale so you could try cleaning it by putting it in some white vinegar and that might fix it.

HI Sonia, Thanks So my sink will be an undermounted and the tap hole will be made in the worktop itself.... Standard worktop I assume is 600mm and undermount sink depth is 430mm which doesnt leave a huge amount at either end, so I'm unsure how this design has been achieved and if this is how it should ideally look?

Sorry, I asked hubby about our water softener and he couldn't remember details - just that it was immersed.

What I want to suggest though is not to forget a boiling water tap. They are the very best thing I've ever bought for my kitchen. It's instant 100C hot water, you never have to wait to have a tea or coffee, just turn the tap on and it's done.
I have no idea if I'm preaching to the converted (it's probably on your list already) but honestly, if I had to choose between water filter tap and boiling water tap, boiling will win every time!! http://www.quooker.co.uk/enuk

PS: and if I'm suggesting gadgets... try the oven with the door that slides under so it gets out of the way and you don't burn yourself when you handle trays or check the roast.
