Houzz Live Chat - Planning, Fitting & Designing a Kitchen - 3pm Friday
Comments (61)A7. Bon Après midi Chloe, I have just recently returned from Southern France and have fallen in love with French rural design, I'm an avid fan of dinning tables for both family and friends to eat and be sociable, if your room is an open kitchen/dinner then embrace the room as one rather than trying to separate them. as for shapes, sizes, and materials clear the intended space mark off the options using either newspaper or masking tape leaving room to walk around don't forget where the chairs will be, this will help you decide how big or small the table can be and how it will fit around your existing furniture as for materials you cant go wrong with a sturdy wooden table with linin and a centre piece. all the best to everyone with their projects and thank you for your questions, until next time Adieu,...See MoreWWYD with this staircase?
Comments (19)Am so glad I asked for your advice! Hadn't thought of using glass, but am now thinking that might be a good idea. The stairs are currently in the dining room, but we plan to remove a wall so they will be part of open plan kitchen diner once that's done. As for our style, I feel a bit lost as what our style is right now having just moved and inherited carpets/decor etc from the previous owners. I'm not sure the shabby chic look we had in our previous home works here! Thanks again everyone!...See MoreDead space in living area
Comments (38)Thanks for all the suggestions. We're definitely looking at a new radiator for the room. I've also moved all of the furniture in every way suggested but it definitely works in a similar way to the way we have it at present. I've attached a few photos from when I was moving the furniture around. For the meantime I've popped the Tv on a smaller unit and it's made it less obtrusive to the eye-still doesn't quite fit the space though! I've had an electrician come out to quote for putting ceiling lights in. Due to works we are planning in the rooms above the living area, it can all be tied in which is great, I'm now trying to decide whether regular pendant style or spotlights will suit the room best. With regards to using the room for another purpose, due to the configuration of the rest of the house, it is best used as a living area. I've attached the floor plan, again, suggestions welcome. Ideally, if we had three good sized bedrooms upstairs instead of 2, I would reinstate bedroom 3 as a dining room. We have the opportunity to go into the loft (many of the houses on the terrace have done so) but I feel that with it being just the two of us, we don't really need all that extra space! With the points raised about difficulties/hassle in bringing food to the dining area, we have a lovely hostess trolley that is used when we are cooking for the extended family which we have done quite a few times and works really well in reducing any awkwardness in orchestrating a dinner party....See MoreWin a design consultation at designjunction - September 22nd-25th
Comments (84)We have just purchased what we hope to be our last house. It is a very big plot and we are looking to knock down and get planning for a very large house over 4 floors. (12,000 sq ft). We know what we want internally however our issue lies with the external look and feel. My wife wants classic new build, with pillar entrance, sash box windows with stone cills or surroundings (Surrey Commuter belt!). I like contempory white, modern, square, glass walls, feature cladded walls with balconies (Beverly Hills!) Our compromise is classic at the front contempory at the rear. We need help! Hopeful designjunction will help offer solutions so we can move forward....See MoreOTM Designs & Remodeling Inc.
