Wow some great ideas. It's such a lovely feature that I am willing to spend a bit of money to keep the shape of the window. I'll have a look into all the suggestions and report back. I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. I would replicate its original windows, which are beautiful. It's a handsome house - keep its value by keeping its authentic character.

I’m not sure why but I do have a love of sun and shadows and so for window coverings I will always bear that in mind if the room faces south or west. And if it does I like blinds that give shadows such as Venetian, new double roller blinds with sheer panels , shutters and I’d even consider vertical in the right situation. It also depends on what time of day and what purpose you use the room for though. And if you’re overlooked, especially at night. I once had a west facing living room with mid “golden” coloured wood venetians and in that particular room the afternoon evening sun gave a magical effect.
