Ideas of how to use the space
Comments (9)Ok, I'm not the best at designing layouts but I enjoy it so here's an attempt (I also can't expand to see most of the measurements..) You would need to swap the pantry and loo around as it's too far from the kitchen area but I'd already written over it in pen! It's not entirely to scale, I think the sofa may be somewhat large! I think you can fit an island in a 17ft gap, I would maybe think about a square shaped one though? I've swapped the kids room and lounge around for better layout purposes for the sofas etc. The bigger kitchen area will allow for FF. It may mean you need skylights though...See MoreI need advice on how to use this hallway space in my rental.
Comments (13)Hi I agree it is a bit big to be called a hallway, however, on either side of it I have a snug with lots of book shelves and my favourite books (first photo) and open fire and a sitting room again with an open fire. The kitchen is small and I have put an Ikea Island in the middle of it as a table would not fit, I also have a 'dining room' where our kitchen table lives, so we don't have much furniture left for our 'hallway'. My sofa is old and is going. But I leave the front big wood door open during the day and the glass porch door closed so I get light through this room, it is lovely in the morning, very bright and I would like to use it more. It just looks like a corridor at the moment. I also have a lovely easel which I would love to put in this area so I might be drawn to do some art. The den with bookshelves and fire place Sitting room Sitting room...See Moregarage conversion- best use of space?
Comments (14)@ideasforinteriors - thank you. We are open to losing that door anyway as we already have a back door at the kitchen, so that wouldn’t be too much of a problem. We could possibly add another back door to a utility space in the middle. At the moment that would open into the walkway round the house but we have a lot of space at this side of the house so it wouldn’t disrupt anything. So would you all say it would be better to put en-suite in the garage conversion rather than split the main bathroom?...See MoreAdding a hallway in using a garage space?
Comments (1)Hi Fran! You could definitely convert the garage to a hallway. If budget allows, you could also move the downstairs loo and utility backwards into the garage and increase the size of the kitchen and add a decent bootroom type space for cloaks etc. Best wishes with your home redesign!
