New build house decoration

We are in the process of buying a 3 bed bijou new-build (ish, 15 years old) property and I want to add personality to it.
The bathrooms are okay but the living room, dining room and bedrooms need work.
Most of the photos on here are of big, beautiful houses & I was wondering if anyone has done work to their small new build that I could see photos of for inspiration?
I love the idea of a grey bedroom - we already have a metal bed and several pieces of furniture.
There's an old pine/oak coloured dining table and chairs that the last owner is leaving but I might paint or varnish darker.
I've also seen an amazing reclaimed wine rack on Etsy to attach to the dining room wall.
I've got a bit of a Cath Kidston obsession, love quirky looks but comfort is paramount.
The living room is small and we'll never get our corner couch in so will be saving for a new sofa.
I've attached some photos that I took when we viewed the house.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated!

Comments (5)You could do a red that blends with the brick, lick this: If your house is attached, try to maintain a mass look with your neighbor. Don't change trim or other details. Keep it consistant. If your neighbor likes the front door color then they could do it, too. Think of having one house where one door is one color and the other is another, the trim is one color in one section and another in the second section. I'm sure you get what I mean. But I think even if the neighbor wants to stay white, that would be OK. Another favorite on Houzz for front doors is blue. How about a dark blue like this: The right yellow would work: Or Black: Some colorful planters by the entry would also make you stand out - in a good way. Comments (2)Hi! What a great blank canvas you have to play with here. I think ultimately with the space you have, they way the bed and wardrobe is positioned is probably the best route for you. What I would do is try to think about what you could do with that chest of drawers - do you need the drawers for storage space, (could what currently you have in there go elsewhere?) or is it mainly for somewhere to place your TV? What I would suggest is thinking about a nice feature on the wall where your bed is - a lovely big headboard with colour and texture or some kind of wood panelling on that wall (classic style or something a bit more rustic). it also looks like you have space either side of the bed? Could you get some matching bedside tables that have a few drawers of storage to replace the chest of drawers? This will create some symmetry in the room, especially if you dress these with matching lamps, perhaps with 2 slimline mirrors behind them to reflect some light around the room. I would suggest getting a wall bracket to hang the TV against the same wall, with a shelve or two in that area. If budget permits, you could have a lovely slim-line unit built on that wall so you can still have the storage that you need below, and the TV can be neatly tucked in with a surround at the top. In terms of decoration I would use the black in the wardrobes to place pops of more black through-out the rest of the room (assuming you are keeping those?) - I'm thinking the blinds would be a great area to add a bit of structure and interest to the room, something like this but with a black coloured border? Comments (3)Hi Texture, texture, texture, layer it up! Start with the walls, use a natural wallcovering (or look a like, there are some great one's out there), to add a simple texture to the walls - look for sea grass, hemp, linen etc to get an idea of these type of textures. Check your contract though, as many new builds have a clause around wall finishes for the first 2 years (drop me a DM if you want to know more). Use a simple colour palette and big rugs! If big rugs are out of the price bracket pop along to one of the large carpet suppliers and have a rummage in the off-cuts/end of roll. You can find some pure wool bargains and get them to whip the edges for you, creating a 'carpet square', which will cover the flooring but still let it peak out around the edges. The look of a rug at a fraction of the price! New builds here in the UK have such low ceilings, so I always recommend painting the skirting boards, walls (and radiators) and even the ceilings when using light colours, all the same colour to visually lengthen the walls a bit. Also, go for discreet ceiling mounted tracks, rather than poles which just cut the eye short of the ceiling, again visually lengthening the walls.
