Ugly box bay window, ideas please
Comments (11)Hiya, We always recommend making a feature of a bay window, especially in a living space. Choose 3 separate blinds that follow the windows - Roman blinds are a popular choice as they create a luxurious feel, though if you're overlooked you might like something with slats, like shutters as you suggest. Framing the window with dress curtains is a lovely addition too - as you mention, the close-in curtains can make the window feel smaller, so consider a wider curtain pole to make the most of the space and light. Hope that helps, Zoe...See Morehallway advice please moving the showing door towards the stairs .
Comments (5)Hi, You could alter the mid landing to have a kite in each corner and a step in the middle, \I/ something like that. Then you would loose three steps from the upper flight meaning you can move the door three steps further over. Its a lot of work though just to move a door and you would still have smells from the bathroom. Could the bathroom extract fan be upgraded to improve on the ventilation?...See MoreExtension idea to move kitchen around
Comments (8)Hi All, Sorry for delay as the project was side-lined for a while. But it’s back in force again and I have the design I wanted. Please see the attached floor plan idea. I am sorry the old floor plan I presented was just copied from estate agent advertisement and it missed the porch which is playing important role in new design. However, there is a problem with the design as it requires to trim some part of the front wall and my Architect is not sure if we can get approval for that. Can I ask you experts if it is advisable to trim the front section? Does it invite cracks sometime in future? The reason behind adding toilet shower in front to make use of soil pipe and avoid heavy digging the floor from middle of house. Also, I am thinking to remove the internal door to give good space. @Rinked, I really liked your design and that is my plan B if my plan doesn’t work out. Many thanks for your help so far....See More1930’s Floorplan ideas. ,do I move kitchen to dining room
Comments (17)I honestly wouldn't worry about the specific layout at this stage as you haven't seen the house in person yet. It's very common to open up the back of 1930s houses so there will be a way to make it work. The layout looks very similar to the house of a friend of mine - they now have a beautiful open plan kitchen/dining/living room with separate utility. Don't panic about supporting walls - they are easier to deal with than you might think. Go and have a look, see if you like the feel of the house, the street, etc. If you do, take a look at the houses round about (you may be able to see some from the rear upstairs windows) - it's likely that you'll see many of them have been extended in different ways. If your offer is accepted and the sale goes through, get to know the neighbours and look at how they've reconfigured. That will give you ideas for what does and doesn't work....See Morer1haz
