Hi, we actually had the bed made bespoke by one of the joinery companies we regularly work with. If you speak to your local joiners, they should be able to make you something similar. Best wishes, Taylor Howes

Hanging rail from the ceiling above one of the bedside tables. Possibly with a pulley mechanism, like the old laundry racks you can raise out of the way. definitely hooks on the back of the door. what about adding a picture rail you could hang clothes hangers from? Definitely add in a large mirror so the space doesn't feel small. Don't compromise on bed width! Use the height of the room to max effect so you don't steal floor space. So you could also wall hang bedside tables to leave space under for shoes and give the appearance of more floor space.

The advantage of the hemnes day bed is it can convert to a double so could last until adulthood in theory. Would you/he consider a midsleeper? There are loads on Wayfair (with good reviews). Do you plan to have a double bed in each room including your master? Having a 4 bedroom house, can give you the space to have a super king in your master bedroom which would balance the space out. Going with the 4 bedroom idea and having a larger master en-suite - it feels like there is a lot of empty unusable corridor space. I think this could be tweaked to make it a fabulous space... Just a brief look at your space, you have 3 wardrobes - could you make the middle one a door into the en-suite, allowing you to have a larger rectangle walk in shower opposite the bath. You could have also have drawers / dressing table on the wall as you come into the bedroom. Think about where the door to the master bedroom would be as it would ideally be balanced around the windows in the corridor. Presuming the windows are fixed. Could bedroom 2 have the door where the 5 bedroom layout is allowing more space for your bedroom door? The A/C cupboard - do you need it? Could you make it wider and smaller depth or a wardrobe for yourselves? It's a little difficult without measurements to work it all out... This is an example of the idea I suggested above. (We are towards the end of renovating our place and we changed it from 5 bed to a 4 but added an en-suite into each room. We don't miss the useless little box room!)

Hi, It would be really useful to know which walls you can knock down and feel are awkward? In terms of utilising the space better are you open to considering moving the kitchen into the reception room to create an open plan kitchen living space? The reason I suggest is because adding a second bedroom will reduce the space of the bedroom as you will need to add a corridor. In addition what you have asked for in the bathroom will increase the footprint of the area. I would have suggested a bath tub/shower combined to save on space. As you want a separate bath and shower units this will take up more space, which can be done but you would have to extend the bathroom which is why I suggest moving the kitchen over to your reception room. It is really difficult to advise you in terms of costs as this is subjective to your building, structural considerations and the builder you use. I do believe you honestly need to get a professional architect involved who will carry out a survey and can advise exactly what can and can't be done in the space you have. Yes this will cost a bit of money, but you will get accurate answers than the Houzz forum! Knocking down walls and moving things around is a costly expense no matter how big the project. I always advise my clients to add 10% contingency fund just incase for those unexpected expenses :) Hope that helps Rukmini Patel Interior Design
