Do you do your food shopping online?
Comments (6)Online: I would never order fresh produce online. I get most of my food shopping from a farm shop, some is local grow in season as available, quite a lot is not yet comes fresh & with less plastic. I then harvest from my vegetable garden as the seasons allows in the UK. Home picked however small or large a crop is so very satisfying. Anything else I need in fresh I buy in person. What I will buy online is organic items such as seaweeds, herbs & other organic fare. Yet this is not from a supermarket chain & will always be supporting companies which promote organic. I buy lots of beans, lentil, peas from an Asian shop which I soak & sprout into sprouted mung beans etc....See MorePOLL: Space or location?
Comments (38)God..you city folk! Reading these comments makes me wonder now.. What about looking at the wider picture and outside the '2 square mileage box' for a change? I am a self confessed (converted) country bumpkin and though I am familiar with city life and the unavoidable commuting with lack of space that goes with that (having lived in central Madrid-Paris-Hong Kong) I was also lucky enough to have had the 'country mansion with lots of space experience' and with that in mind it there for would have to be...location! If the location is wrong then it is so much harder to change that or even sometimes live with, where as space is a luxury one can simply afford to have (create) or not, but certainly is something I could live with or be without!...See MoreFrom where do you buy your paint?
Comments (54)Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement....See MorePOLL: Have cookbooks gone out of fashion?
Comments (23)I buy one or two cookbooks every year for inspiration (last one was Jamie's Everyday Super Food), but only keep hold of a few old favourites or speciality books, so my cookbook shelf is quite modest. Over the past 5 years I've gone digital and all my favourite recipes, whether they came from cookbooks or magazine clippings originally, are hunted down online to copy into Evernote. Handily, several of the big-name cooks publish their popular recipes on their own websites. This way I've got a bespoke cookbook of my favourite recipes, annotated with my own tweaks, which can be used on a smartphone for ingredient shopping, or an an iPad while cooking. I do find it really satisfying flipping through a new cookbook and tagging the pages of recipes I want to try, so I'll keep buying the cookbooks as well as using online resources....See MoreSam Hill
