That's a lovely sized bathroom ffawnog! You're very lucky! We would suggest maybe thinking again about the radiator you have in there. We love the more traditionally styled column rads like that, but maybe getting a slimline one that is a little taller may be a solution. We installed radiator covers in a Georgian house decorated in a traditional style. They covered modern, flat radiators and without doubt were a vast visual improvement. The space within the cover will get considerably hotter than the room so conventional thermostatic valves are no good. We used valves that had a heat sensor in the room not within the cover. I recall the covers were made from a fairly heavy duty MDF and whilst they did get quite hot they never warped. Using radiator covers probably means it takes longer to heat a room to a comfortable temperature but we didn’t notice an increase in fuel bills possibly because we often used open fires in the winter. Finally, the covers provided very useful shelf space (for appropriate objects!). Georgian houses don’t have window sills.

A meeting half way often saves a marriage. So, I propose leaving the covers off, but installing shelves above some, so that the items above detract from the radiators below. Also there are a number of skirting radiators (long and skinny) that can fit along the floor, so making this a no mess solution. There are also a number of amazing modernist styles that look like wall sculptures rather than radiators, so would look amazing displayed in the centre of the wall, rather than below and out of sight. These are options that instead of spending on a radiator cover, you may want to spend the same on replacing an ugly radiator with a more aesthetically pleasing one. There is something to be said about something that is ugly and gets covered. Why not chuck it out instead?
