What kind of bulbs?

Hi!
I think this is a fantastic idea and would definitely be something I would love to have in my own home. I was wondering what type of bulbs these rods use? Additionally- when the time comes to replace them, would they be something I could get at a local home improvement store or are they a specialty item I would need to order online?

Hello Rosanna,

Thank you for your question! These curtain rods use LED lights which are more energy efficiant and durable than incandesent bulbs. The specifications vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally these LEDs are rated for 50,000+ lifetime hours- they would probably not need to be changed. Most manufacturers design the rods so that the LEDs cannot be replaced, so in the unlikely event that the LEDs reached the end of their lifetime, a new curtain rod assembly would need to be purchased.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic kitchen. So pleased you're keeping it! Formica would be the period correct work surface and can still be bought but may not fit with your budget? I would also look at having a carpenter produce your cabinets. They can be cheaper than off the shelf and would be better build. To save some money you could buy cheap plain carcasses and have a carpenter make doors to match the existing ones that you can then paint. That's what i'd do!

The time to plant spring bulbs is in the autumn, so too late for this spring, although you can buy them now in pots as they flower for some instant colour. Daffodils are lovely and I particularly like the dwarf varieties like Tete a Tete. Crocus (the purple ones in your pic) are early spring flowerers and look lovely in drifts in grass or around trees and shrubs, as do Snowdrops. Tulips are not long lived, but do give a fabulous show for a year or two. One of my favourite small bulbs are grape hyacinths which spread like mad but provide a beautiful show of blue. Another really beautiful small bulb is Chionodoxa. There are loads more which you can research on the RHS website. Some of my front garden. The blue are grape hyacinths. What kind of wood floor is this?

Appears to be pine. Doesn't look to be pitch pine. The varying widths of plank in the restored floor suggest it is old but cannot see if this is the case in the newly exposed floor. If they are original they would have been left exposed in parts and probably part hidden by rugs. I think the wood was called deal rather than pine.
