bathroom surface advice please

I'm helping my son and d-i-law to make their first flat nicer. The bathroom is definitely in need of attention and they are going to install a new bath and loo (on other side of room from attached photo), floor tiles etc. They need to situate a washer and dryer in the bathroom so I've suggested they replace the set-up in the pic with a wall to wall surface on which a vessel sink is symmetrically placed in the centre of the surface. The washer and dryer can go under the surface and there will be concealing doors on the front. I guess on the wall we might place, (centred!), a large mirrored bathroom cabinet.

The question is what the wall to wall surface should be? My d-i-law would like Drawing Room Blue (F&B) painted cupboard fronts and I was wondering if a moisture resistant MDF also painted in the same colour would look good and be sufficiently moisture resistant. Or perhaps off-white Corian, but I don't know if we can get that cut to the exact size no doubt wonky size.

Any ideas gratefully received!
