When I lived in a small flat with high ceilings I had a pulley system in my passage hallway and the bike hung from the ceiling. It worked really well except when I had a really tall guest who ran the risk of tyre marks on his forehead

In my nanas dining room!!!

She lives 10 miles away on the seafront, so storing them at hers saves us lugging them back and for on the car.

Unfortunately, MRSA is all over, not just lurking in hospitals anymore. My nephew contracted it when he was about 18 months old. The doctors had strict guidelines to follow for prevention of further outbreaks for both him, and the entire family. My sister was told that everyone, not just families that are dealing with MRSA, should wash towels after every use with bleach as a means to kill any of the germs. bTW, my sister has always kept a spotless home, so it wasn't like this is a home with full of excessive germs.

I start taking my decorations down in the days after 2nd Jan but usually leave a few bits up until 5th of January, the evening of which, I (and the Church of England) consider to be Twelfth night. It seems logical to me that Christmas Day is the first Day of Christmas, and twelfth night is the last evening before Epiphany. It doesn't make any sense to me to start counting from Boxing Day but I know lots of people believe that it is the night of Epiphany is 12th night and you hear both dates used

between 4 of us we have about 13 bikes, it drives me bonkers (7 belong to my partner). they are everywhere. in the shared hall, inside the flat in the hallway, in the covered alley, in the conservatory, in the cellar; some of the initial kids bikes are loaned out before we sell them. we have a small flat - which I would love to decorate but the bike oil on the walls makes me think it's not worth it. Any recommendations for storage would be welcome. I'm fighting off having them in the bedroom and lounge.

My husband made a bike shed on top of the concrete septic tank in the garden. It backs onto the tool shed, has an old telegraph pole cut into four to hold up the corrugated iron roof. Cost less than £100, hides the septic tank and provides storage for 6 bikes - perfect.

There are some really funky bike storage systems to use in your home. check out http://www.outlineworksltd.com/ or kappo bike storage. If you fancy a bit of DIY why not fix an old set of road bike handle bars to your wall and hang your bike (from its top tube) on the drops. keep the bike safe, keep it indoors....happy cycling

We got a canopy built over our side passage with sturdy fold up wallmounts with super duper bolted hooks to attach bike locks to for security. Keeps all our bikes dry and secure and ready to go. The roof is wood beams with good quality polycarbonate so allows light in, and we have proper guttering leading from it to a rainwater butt for watering the back garden ! You can tell its a hit!

My bike complete with child seat on back is left parked in front of patio doors in our kitchen/diner..it's not the most attractive thing but am in an end of terrace so no side access and pulling it in and out of shed twice a day with the inevitable mud slick through the house doesn't hugely appeal..next place I live in will have to have garage and side access finances permitting of course!

My bike is in the kitchen, which means there's no room for a kitchen table. I have a small yard and shed but it would go rusty if left in the shed. Also concerned about security if outside. I would never have the strength to lift it up onto a high hook. I've looked at specialist bike stores for two bikes but they seem to cost more than the bikes and ease of access is not necessarily part of the design. Seems to be a bit of a gap in the market.

I won a bike in a competition just before Christmas ,but due to a knee problem I'm unable to ride this beautiful prize . I knocked down my shed last summer due to its age so now have nowhere to store my bike . It's in the hall , has to be negotiated around , I'm reluctant to sell it as I want to ride it !! I live in a terrace so back access is complicated and due to the knee problem I can't haul it up the front steps !! New house needed .... for me and my bikey !

Hang the bike on the wall, hallway, living room, any wall space will do. After all a bike isn't just for riding, it's a work of art.

As a child we kept our bikes under the stairs. It was a nightmare to get one out and back in again. Kept them safe and out of the weather though.

Have the same problem, taking it in and out of shed in terraced house is a pain! Have considered building a wooden bike and bin store into the front garden wall (solving 2 problems

I think your bike will get rusty in a wooden store.

As for hanging it on a wall, is there a way of doing this that doesn't involve superhuman strength?

Can I suggest, if you need a bicycle, but don't have space to store a conventional style machine, that you purchase a folding bike. There are lots to choose from. Many also come with a bag to kerp it in.

I leave one at work, one in the shed, and one in the living room... I have too many bikes.
