Help with basement

I have been trying to figure out how to design man cave. I've been looking around for ideas but most of everything I see is for large intricately designed basements & not like my medium size plain rectangle. Thought about brighten up the room with a beige like color with side accent walls in some kind of orange. I can't figure out what I can do differently for my gaming section with all my consoles without having a big bulky entertainment center but hide wires at the same time. And a good way to place all my collectibles. So, lots of help & ideas needed.

An armoire will hold all your components without the cables showing, and for the wall color I'd go with blue, guys seem to like blue.

You can add a wainscot around the base using bead board (probably the color of the white trim). Above that is the wall. This protects the wall from some of the pool cue dings. It also creates a horizontal line for shelving, furniture and art etc. This helps to anchor things rather than make them seem like they float. The trim and bead board can also be painted with a gloss or semi-gloss paint, to reflect more light and brighten things up. This will also help to conceal the heater, outlets other white accessories that are along the wall. That dust build up you get above electric heaters on the wall is also much easier to clean up.

Hi. I would keep the lounge as it is, move the kitchen under the upstairs kitchen (so into bedroom2) and open that space up a little if you can. I would then enlarge the existing bathroom slightly as you won't need all that hall space with the utility becoming your new hall. The main bedroom would then be where the kitchen is and a little of the master suite. The second bedroom I would do as a study come bedroom come entrance where the current master bedroom is and entrance to the property. This would be open most of the time but contain a 'study bed' which can be pulled down as a desk or as a bed for guests. Picture attached. This should then make a stylish fairly open space for your DIL to rent or use in the future and very comfortable for you now :) I hope that all makes sense.

If we were working on this project for you - we'd follow up our idea with CAD images to show you better what we mean - we could also explore the changing around of furniture placement etc all to scale and again visible in plan and perspective form. It takes quite a bit of time but is worth doing to get things correct so you can show your builders exactly what you are after ( drawings helps if there are language differences too, with holiday homes abroad !) Hi Sandi You have a great space to work with, and a lot of ideas for the space itself which is a great start. Ideally it would be best to sit down with a Designer and really dig into what you want from the space, taking time to really figure out how you want the space to feel as a whole. However, to get you started it's easy enough to create a concept design plan of the space from plans you have of the home, so if you'd be interested I'd be happy to take a look at the plan for both the basement and lounge, and send you something over to give an idea of how the design could look / be laid out, based upon the information you've posted above. Basement Insulation

Hello, We need to improve the insulation of a basement apartment. The ideal solution would be able to inject the material into the cavity due to it not being practical to remove all of the plasterboard. I have read some information on Polystyrene Beads that seem to be ideal in terms of being able to instal the material into the cavity. However there has not been many reviews to convince me of the final result in terms of heat retention? Can any one help advise me if this is indeed a practical solution or if there is an alternative method. NB. The attached photo shows the inner recess where we could gain access the void to pour the polystyrene beads. Thanks for your help. Robert
