Stone bath and sink but what toilet?

I have found a lovely matt white stone bath and sink but I'm not sure if a white ceramic toilet will match. My bathroom isn't very big so they will be positioned quite close to each other. Has anyone else had stone bath etc. and if so what material is your toilet?

If it's a plasterboard ( 'stud') wall, then it shouldn't be a big deal to remove it. I presume that you intend to retile the toilet? So removing the wall would not only open the room up but also reduce the area/cost of tiling. With regards o the plumbing, I'm not a plumber and can't see much from the pics, but I'd imagine your hot water comes from your combi boiler. It seems odd that one water pipe would supply all the flats in the building - normally the water board run the water mains to the outside of the house and then a supply to each flat branches out from there - so each flat would have it's own stop cock to shut the water off. It would be weird to find a stop cock inside the wall.... are you sure that this pipe supplies the whole building??

Limestone is perfect in a bathroom/wetroom environment. If you seal it - even better. As it is a natural stone, too much water/soaps/shampoos won't affect it (even if it wasn't sealed), unlike a ceramic or porcelain which would need a little more maintenance. Limestone's natural colours and variants in patterns & shades also disguise any marks which is perfect in that situation! Here's a wetroom we did last year for some clients, which is completely floor to ceiling in Travertine (a form of limestone) They love it as it is so easy to keep clean. Hi, I'd definitely keep your feature bath. This can be painted in a nice Fired Earth Eggshell finish. I can't comment on your basin or wc, as I can't see them and have no idea what condition they are in? I'd tile the floor, shower areas and window reveals. I'd suggest upstands (skirting tiles) around the rest of the bathroom, then you can add some nice colour to your bathroom your painted bath will be a lovely feature. Have a look at some of my photosets which may give you some inspiration. Having said all this, I think your budget is unrealistic. The most important component in your new bathroom is the person who undertakes the work and this will cost you money. Good luck with your project. Jeremy

Hi Dynamo, I'm responsible for the design in your photo and delighted you like the look of this room. You would only need a few square meters of the split mosaic tiles which are available of sheets, so not expensive for a striking feature. Also, easy to keep free of dust with a quick once over with a dust pan brush, or brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner . WC's are often overlooked but when you consider its a room you use every day and your guests use too, why not make it an enjoyable experience! An alternative and very inexpensive idea for your walls and my signature in practically every home I renovate, is installing 6mm MDF panelling with a 10mm shadow gap in between each panel, apply with Pink Gripfil adhesive. 600mm x 600mm square or horizontal panels of any height add a sense of depth and soul to boring flat, painted walls. A sheet of MDF is cheap as chips, just make sure you prime and undercoat thoroughly with a mini roller before applying eggshell finish or acrylic paint. It's not a main bathroom so not susceptible to humidity, therefore emulsion paint in a contrast shade will work well too.
