Do you buy second hand furniture?
Comments (56)I've got quite a lot of furniture second hand, including both dressers (although the top half of one has been repurposed as a tall table/stand of sorts), a bed, mirrors, tables, a conservatory three piece bamboo suite (£50) and ikea bar stools. Also inherited a tall pine chest of drawers and one half of the bunk bed I slept in as a child. My parents are always telling me to let it go but I don't see why I should- I have a lot of memories associated with it and an idea to turn it into a mezzanine style bed to free up floor space in a small bedroom....See MoreWhat's the best way to repaint kitchen cupboards
Comments (1)Remove the doors - leaving the hinges attached the carcasses. Sand thoroughly until most of the varnish has been removed. Paint with an undercoat using a small roller to avoid brush marks. Paint two coats using a water based emulsion. Finish with a matt varnish. Reattach doors....See MoreHand drawn designs vs CAD designs...

Comments (15)It sounds like you've got a few great ideas covered already :) Maybe also look at the materials used ie lime plaster, hardwood, chalky paint finishes etc. Choose door furniture, lights and sockets that are appropriate. Would beams suit the style of architecture? Look at deep doors rather than modern ones. I think the interior style will also be important to add character, lots of rugs, art, books etc, maybe mix in a few antiques with new furniture. Lots of texture for cushions, throws etc with traditional window dressings and choose the colour palette based on the scenery? A traditional shaker style kitchen with a natural stone worktop, butlers sink etc . What are the style of windows? Sounds like a fantastic house btw :)...See MoreA A
