Hi ! Have a 1960 house galley kitchen remodeling ..

Q. We have gas stove and oven all in one unit. Want to go more mid century modern and want a drop in stove top with a double oven below it (one of those that has a small oven for pizza with the bigger oven under) I cant find any. So now wondering if I should just get a slide in and be done? Are built in gas ovens harder to install and all ? thanks Houzz.. you always come through !

Q. I do want a microwave and toaster oven too..

There are certainly some available in drop in or slide in, but more choices in free standing. The double oven with a drop in is often not going to work, because you don't have the depth to accommodate 2 ovens in the shorter face height. Slide ins are the same thing, only a full face height, so you can get that with a double or a free standing unit. The difference between slide in and free standing is the top overhangs counters and controls are all up front for a slide in, where the freestanding range just sits in the slot and is slightly separated from the counter. You can check GE, kitchenaid (they have baking drawers) and LG etc for what you are after and the prices. All of the appliance companies will also have microwaves. Since it is a galley design, I am guessing space is a consideration. You may want to check the over the range micro, convect & vent hood combos for above the range. You may also need a counter depth fridge for space, which come in fewer options. Gas ovens/ ranges in general, are not any harder to install. Good luck and have fun with it.

yes..thanks network architects ! I don't want a free standing think it would look cleaner with a slide in or built in. Instead of having a bread warmer under the oven I want space for a baking drawer ! thanks ! And we are looking at the counter debt fridge..

You'll get more responses if you repost this in the design dilemas bit. There's no images or dimesions to go from but here's my thoughts, bearing in mind budget is a big consideration: - Kitchen Leave the windows as they are, you can create a sense of light with reflective materials and light colours. Leave the slate floor - it's hardwearing and easy to clean You could try replacing just the cupboard door fronts, as long as the carcasses themselves are in good shape - if budget doesn't allow then you could paint them a pale grey instead to match the floor. Replace the work surfaces with a light counter top. Shop around for appliances - there are some great places local to me that do slight seconds, you can grab a bargain and often it's just there's a scratch on the side or top where you won't see it anyway. Bathroom There are some great space saving bathroom ideas out there . Some people don't mind not having a bath but bear in mind you could reduce your appeal to some renters if you take it out and you'll definitely reduce the property's saleability (this may not worry you if you're in it for the long term). Ask a local estate agent for their advice - they'll know the local market better. Hi Brona, You've got a decent sized kitchen so probably a logical layout based on how you as a family use your space could solve everything. It sounds to me like you need a large pantry block where you can store all of your worktop appliances out of sight but within easy reach. This will then free up usable prep space rather than the lots of top but no space that you have now! it's about zoning your areas so everything you need for a particular activity is in the right place so you're not running all over the kitchen getting your 10k steps just cooking supper! Hello All! I’m in desperate need of some ideas/advice please. We are renovating an old dairy barn into a home and the kitchen dimensions are a tad odd. It’s 10 ft wide and 18 ft long, with walkways on both ends and an exit way through French doors. There is a brick wall (shown below) that could be saved as an accent if needed.... Would I be able to have an island? Where could appliances go w/out interfering? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
