I'm about to give our bedroom a complete makeover and am wondering whether to re-orient the bed and try it under the window as I've seen this on some photos. What are the pros and cons?
Depends on which way the window faces. A south or south east facing window will get a lot of sunlight in the mornings, which can be fantastic at waking you up and getting you into a good mood. It's also great in the summer as you can crack a window open on a hot night to get some airflow.
However, some windows can be draughty and there's nothing worse than trying to fall asleep in the winter with an icy blast blowing in over your face!
In short: Consider the direction of the window and how well sealed it is. Also is the window central in the room or is it off to one side?
Is your radiator under the window? If so you may block heat. Also consider window treatment, will it allow curtains to drape properly etc. Also the aesthetics, window height, headboard height, can you put bedside tables there (are there also sockets)
That's plenty to think about. the sockets would not be too bad, or the bedside tables; but yes there is the radiator and I would have to have a low headboard. I was thinking Roman Blinds for the windows though.
