It is an advice forum and asking on her behalf is thoughtful and sensible. I think it hasn't helped having so much advice on what to change when you'd started by saying that your daughter doesn't want to paint the doors, retile or change the counter tops. Not everyone reads everything it seems. In my view, it's impossible to decide until your daughter has moved in and seen how her own accessories fit or don't fit and then make a judgement. The things that bother me are the stark white walls and the colour of the floor - neither does justice to the funky black or the orangey pine. A warmer paint colour - or an interesting wallpaper - could make a huge difference. Although rugs can be a nuisance in a kitchen - they move around, are trip hazards, and can get mucky - throwing something down on top of the floor might help to give her ideas. If the owners are taking away the washing machine and dishwasher, replacing them with stainless steel would immediately tone in better or, if the doors are still made, integrating new appliances (as someone else has suggested) would also make a difference. If there were more of a match between the colours in the room ... there might well be scope for adding some teal or turquoise accessories. There's also scope for hanging a huge painting/print/poster, or several, on the wall above that radiator (the existing picture is far too small and the wrong shape - landscape would be better). Good luck to your daughter - I think she can make modest changes to the walls and floor that will turn it into a lovely kitchen.

Mixed unit colours can look good with a modern kitchen, but I would leave yours one colour. Something simple and neutral like white, pale grey or taupe is easy to live with. I have a wooden worktop and I will be changing it. It needs oiling every few months, and even with that it is not hardwearing. Mine is covered in dents, has faded in places and gone black in places near the sink. Water and wood just don't mix. Your worktop looks pretty good, so fix the end piece on the left where the chipboard is showing. You can get iron on end pieces. So I would paint the units. Lots of people have done this so search “Repainted kitchens” on Advice. Change the knobs, loads for sale online, and change the tap for something more classic like a swan neck one. There are companies who sell replacements doors and drawers, as E D suggests, so that may be an option too. You wanted a design tool—try Room Arranger (ios, android, windows). It’s free unless you want to keep your design (a workaround if you don’t want to pay is to screenshot the elements of the design you want to keep). If you take photos of the existing granite, you’ll be able to arrange your cupboards as they are and colour them as you please. Personally, I think the top cupboards should either be removed/reduced if you can find more storage elsewhere. If kept, paint them pale so that they fade into the background. I would forget painting the lowers until your puppy is at least a year old, depending on the breed—if you’re doing the work yourself it takes several weeks to do (speaking from painful experience) and the paint will then need another lot of weeks to reach full hardness. It would drive you nuts if you put all that time into it, only for the puppy to scratch or mark your hard work, which is quite likely (I’ve had three puppies, by the way). If you really can’t live with the doors, and they’re standard sized, maybe just change them for something inexpensive from ikea/B&Q etc that you can live with for a few years? Then if they’re badly damaged they’re easily replaced out as needed (assuming you’re not unlucky and pup doesn’t go mad with multiple doors). Alternatively, you might be able to get them spray painted, which I believe gives a very tough coating.
