Comments (2)I would not render or put any cladding up just spruce up what is there. I would paint the stone coins and window ledges so that they look pristine then unify the window frames by painting all the same colour. I would paint the lower ones white as I think white looks smarter against red brick. I would paint the wood door- again a lighter colour looks smart against red brick although this can soon look dirty in an urban area- perhaps a taupe/ grey would be forgiving. Lastly I would put expensive looking chrome door furniture on the entrance with a modern sign at eye level....See MoreNeed advice updating my 1930's hall and landing
Comments (4)You have some great features there. I love the bullseye architrave and panelled doors. One of my favourite hall transformations on Houzz was this one: [From dodgy pink to elegant grey[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/from-dodgey-pink-to-elegant-greys-dsvw-vd~2942113) If I was lucky enough to have a hallway like yours, I'd be getting a skip for the dado rail and wallpaper (as already suggested). The dark brown carpet would also go in. I'd then be wanting to use white emulsion on the doors and walls. To add some interest, how about creating a feature using either a coloured chandelier or mirror? How about a stripe carpet going up the stairs?...See Moremy holiday home has a dark kitchen I need CHEAP updating ideas!
Comments (5)Hi Lorna Pictures & rough plan would be great to be able to give some better advice. On first reading, changing the window seems a bit extreme. This wouldn't be a very cost effective solution. To make the most of your budget you just may need to think outside the fitted kitchen box a bit, have more free standing furniture pieces to get around these 'quirks'!...See MoreAdvice on colours to temporarily update and refresh kitchen
Comments (6)I also like the wallpaper. If it were my kitchen I would clean up the look at it is currently more tatty than retro. I would paint the ceiling a very pale grey and the walls a dark grey. A new lino will help clean up the look. Personally I wouldn’t try to change the tiles because I don’t think painting tiles is generally an improvement. But I would paint the cabinets. A sunnier Jaffa orange would be cleaner looking and wall decals might give them a temporary retro lift....See More- 6 years ago
