Hi Alecia. You could buy the latest in string lighting - White Lightbulbs! They're for in and outdoors and in multicoloured bulbs too. If you bought 3 or 4 you'd have a similar look for a fraction of the price. 'MY-NEWLIFE' on ebay UK has some, and for about £100 you can get 100 on a string from the US. Good Luck.

Sadly we concluded that the quotes we got (~£30k upwards) didn't warrant the benefit, and we've since moved house - albeit for different reasons. The closest we got was to continue the stairs straight to where the WC was and create a little hallway for the end of the stairs and the front door to open into, thereby not having the kitchen open to the stairs any more. This also gave us the ability to have slightly more space in the kitchen as well, so changed to units down the RH side, with an island where it is in this picture, and then add glass or pocket doors into the front room, to allow it to be used as a playroom. Hi, A couple of quick questions to keep in mind when looking for light fittings for this room. Do you have access to the ceiling over the room? If not then you may not be able to have more than one light fitting as without access you would have to take down the existing ceiling to run the wiring to any additional pendants, or have the cables surface mounted. The other thing that you would need to bear in mind when buying a new light fitting is that you will need to be able to get a strong enough fixing to hold it or any additional fittings in place. Your existing fitting is fairly small so may not have that solid a fixing, you could though potentially fit any new fixings to the existing timber trusses. It would be worth checking that if you do not already know before committing to buying a fitting. Also if you do buy a Sputnic type fitting such as the ones we have used below check first how many bulbs you will need as the cost of bulbs can quickly add up especially if you want them to be dimmable!
