Granite composite sink with granite worktops - which colour?

I am renovating my kitchen and have decided on an ivory coloured shaker style. It's a galley kitchen in a Victorian Terrace. I would like to go for Black Pearl granite worktops but I'm really struggling with my undermounted sink choice. I live in a hard water area and hate scratched stainless steel. Can anyone please help with what colour granite composite sink I should choose? I'm thinking of a Franke sink in Polar White but struggling with how this will look with the black pearl granite, ivory units and stainless steel tap. Please help?

Love the sound of the shaker style kitchen. Hopefully one of our pros will be able to help you out with sink options!

Hi. Here's a pic of how it would look (similar anyway!). It depends if you want the sink to stand out or for the worktop to look seamless. As you're going for a shaker have you consider a butler or Belfast sink?

Thanks for the replies. It is 30mm thick granite, I think the picture distorts the depth. I have spoken to the fitter this morning and he's agreed to fix it - narrowing the gap and darkening the filler. The slabs were from the same batch but there is a difference in the texture from one side to the other of each slab (we picked them in the warehouse). He should have laid the right hand one around the other way, but the grain would still have been at right angles across the seam. In the end that is in a less used corner of the kitchen and we are not so concerned about the lack of matching of the granite - mainly because I don't think there is a good solution.

Thanks for your comments, I've had a email from the boss man, have a read see what you think. The Star Galaxy Is Natural Granite , it has pits in the Material no matter where in the world or who it's purchased from, they don't expand or get bigger, we just have to fill it with resin, 99% of the stone should be spot on just a few small pits but they will get filled. For a 100% smooth Worktop we have to use material that's not 100% natural stone ie quartz which is not as durable compared to granite, Corian which scratches so granite & quartz are better than Corian or finally laminate or wood which again scratch & are not a long term suitable option. The granite is extracted from the ground & would outlast any other material in a home including the brickwork. The small pits can be filled no problem & if the join needs going over again that's also normal as the stone will contract & detract over the first few months with temperature until it settles. Overall granite is the best stone to use but has small details like pits due to it's natural form in lighter colours you may get light hairline cracks or veins & not a uniformed look, pits are found in every star galaxy job done. The pits are not abnormal to the stone & we will address them, that shouldn't detract from the remainder of the job which I believe has been hand crafted to a very high standard.

Seams/joints might be more prominent in a natural product over a composite - not a problem if you have none - but another consideration if you do !

If you are not going to drain anything then no need. Maybe your reasoning for a double bowl sink is to fit one with a draining rack? If you are going to use the granite as a drainer then in my opinion they are required as the slight gradient on them will direct surface water into the sink rather than onto the floor. Black or dark granite colours will also show watermarks caused by standing water, particular if you live in a hard water area. You can choose the shape and size of drainer grooves, so if you keep it simple they will hardly be noticed.

Brilliant! Thank Minnie. Going for undermounted sink but actually yours looks fab. Thank you! White looks fresh and won't show hard water as much.
