Hands up if you'd like a kitchen island!
Comments (21)Our current square kitchen has a central island and acts as a bit of a roundabout as we have through traffic to contend with. Drives me mad when people come through the busy working area instead of round the other side. About to enlarge both kitchen and island, I just need to make sure I keep people out of my bit!...See MoreLost! Not sure where to start!
Comments (17)Thanks all. Space (fortunately) I don't think is the issue, the main area (squared off bit) is about 5.8m by 5.8m and the 'extra bit' is 2.4m wide but only 1.6m long - so essentially the wall that runs parallel to porch utility is about 7.4m long and the heart of the room is just shy of 6m. We intend to keep the lounge and the utility is quite big (thinking of making this a little smaller) so storage shouldn't be a problem. I like the idea of having the dining table in the front window (the small section where suggestions have been to move kitchen) because the light floods in there and it's a great place to hide away from all kitchen mess too if entertaining. I'd like eclectic benches that provide storage with cushioned tops and some chairs along the free wall. Main objective is entertaining guests in one space and also uniting the family at meal times and before/after work. I've attached a picture of layout currently - and yes, we intend to keep the existing 'formal' front door in situ for guests/random callers. Mainly family will use boot room type entrance. Hope that makes sense and thanks so much for all the comments and pics/advice - first time I've used this site and it's certainly helped me shape my thoughts!!...See MoreThoughts please:Blinds for these windows and doors?
Comments (61)We get asked this question a lot, and that is why we sell integrated or integral blinds which are totally enclosed within the glass cavity of the double glazed unit, and are available for most of the doors and windows we sell. They can be manually or electrically operated, are available in a range of colours, and have Venetian or pleated versions. They can be closed for complete privacy, opened to any angle for different shading or raised up almost completely out of the way. Aside from enclosing all the working parts (safe for toddlers), they enhance the thermal efficiency of the unit they are enclosed within and will never need cleaning! You can upgrade existing doors and windows, although if you are purchasing new, ask your supplier about Uni-blinds Integral Blinds beforehand....See MoreHelp - rental living room
Comments (18)I considered that, but I am not sure it would fit. Kitchen is more of an annex, 2 cupboards deep (funnily enough, I just snapped my measuring tape...), so the table couldn't go "in" the kitchen. There is maybe 1 metre room between kitchen edge and the chaise-long part of the sofa (and this can't be swapped to the other side as it was bought as a right hand chaise-long, if you know what I mean).. A bit of a nightmare!...See MoreCarolina
