kitchen glass splashback with LED lights
Comments (8)LED is best from the top down if you can - as a few points of your looking through the glass down ward you will see the led strip little points - if on top of glass it you would most likely not see the hot point of light. The glass should most likely be coloured but a pastel colour or white using low iron glass as it will allow light to travel better. Lastly textured glass works better as it allows the light to hit a design and the effect is better (but i make textured splashbacks) Use low low glass paints a colour with top light led - that you can easily access if light goes or transformer etc. They will say it has a 10 year life span but I have seen many break and you will want to replace easy without taking your kitchen apart...See MoreAdvice needed for lighting above kitchen island which contains a hob.
Comments (21)Hi @shanagarry80, thanks for your comments! I'm not at home right now so I can't be sure how big the extractor fan actually is but it is over a 90cm hob and oven, so must be at least 90cm. It doesn't look particularly large in situ and the inbuilt lights are very good for illuminating the cooking area. Have a look at Gutmann's website; as I said in one of my earlier comments, other companies do make similar extractors but our kitchen people thought this one best, however our kitchen is now 3 years old and a lot can happen in that time! Hope you have fun designing your new kitchen!...See MorePOLL: LED-lights - hit or miss?
Comments (20)LED is very much the present and will be the only option in the future. Why install a outdated technology like halogen or incandescent lighting? LED has many advantages with different colour temperatures, very good colour rendering, variable angles of light and of course low running and maintenance costs. Its very much down to choosing the correct LED lighting for your project....See MoreWhite or silver led flush ceiling lights for kitchen diner?
Comments (9)Hi Claire, as Litecraft have already pointed out it does depend on what you are going to have in the rest of your kitchen but for me I would go with the Chrome option as think it will make your lights stand out more. If you want to go for something different to chrome there is also a satin nickel option too like this one which isn't as shiny as the chrome options like the one below. As there are quite a few different options you can have a look at our range by clicking this link: Downlights Also you didn't mention if you was having round or square lights so you can see the square options here as there are many available which you can also have as twin, triple of even quad options! Square Downlight Options Hope this helps you out, but if you need any more information then feel free to send us a message and we'll be happy to help....See MoreWD Lighting UK Ltd
