Bathroom tiles dilemma -

Hi all, would appreciate some inspiration for our separate bathroom and toilet (plan attached). As you can see both rooms are quite small, and so we will be extending into bedroom 4 just past the chimney breast (we are removing the chimney). Will keep the two rooms separate but matching in decor. Like the idea of staying bright so maybe white tiles with a splash of blue border mosaic running through the middle. Having spent the afternoon at Topps tiles, am none the wiser. Husband thinks no tiles just paint... We are basically working with a blank canvas as both toilet and bathroom needs gutting. What kind of style are you decorating the spaces in - traditional, contemporary, a mix of the two etc?

If there is no natural light source, whites/neutral colours and spotlights, and light creating tricks like mirrors work well. Adding plants also makes window-less spaces feel less oppressive! Hopefully this has been of some use :)

Hi, we please have a look at these pictures of bathrooms we have done.

Micro cement is a tile or panel alternative, it's trowelled on and and has a finish like marble or polished concrete when finished.

There's alot of colours to choose from and best of all it does not need any unsightly joins. Easy to clean, durable and waterproof.

Hope this gives you some food for thought :)

Always worth checking with Lasscos, if they don't have any then they may be able to suggest where you can get some, and who may be able to restore the ones you have. They have a few locations so worth going and having a look or at least giving them a call. They will also probably have some other 30s bathroom fixtures. If you have white tiles, then paint the walls white. Find a stencil that you really like and use the same blue colour to stencil the walls. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/royaldesignstencils?section_id=7618081&ref=shopsection_leftnav_4 This tongue and groove boarding looks quite heavy in the blue. Will it be balanced by the same feature below the sink?

I agree that the vaulted ceiling would be out of proportion although you could do what the Victorians used to do- have a skylight and therefore a light filled space above the room and then a window in the ceiling of your bathroom. Sun tunnels seem like a cheaper alternative but the only one I saw didn't deliver (kinda like early energy saving light bulbs- promised to be bright but really you needed five to replace a conventional bulb)

That's one photo gone right :) Curious to see the rest (and the exact measurements). Using the original tile might be dificult as you've removed a wall. I'd also suggest insulating the exterior wall and windows, as it will pay itself back in the future. With special bubble foil and cement board it will not take up too much space (and the exterior wall can still breathe). A bath on the attic floor sounds like a bad idea, or an expensive on at the least. Our little boy preferred showers since the age of two, so don't base your decision on kids. They love those little plastic baths too. (Loads of dutch households don't have a bath.) Cisterns are great for modern bathrooms (but when they fail, it's quite a hassle), so the question is are you creating a somewhat 1920s bathroom or a modern style?

@Isadora - thanks for the ideas - the first white and third half white half blue design is definitely the look we are going for. And actually did look at Toppstiles brick tile range. We have a small window in the toilet room and quote a large window in the bathroom.
