Herringbone or brick bond tile format?

I going to be getting our bathroom retiled to make it lighter. I'm going for Laura Ashley Mr Jones tiles on the floor (see bottom image) with off-white metro tiles on the walls above the shower and bath (just replacing the existing tiles).

I'm torn between getting the tiles laid in a herringbone format or a brick bond format. If I go with the latter, I think I'd get a dark dado tile at half height to pick up the dark pattern in the tile, but would this look odd as it would just be one 1.5 walls? I thought about tiling to half height around the rest of the bathroom, but with the niches, recesses and towel rail, the space is already quite busy.

Just plain floor to ceiling brick bond format seems a bit dull, but then herringbone might be too busy when combined with the diagonal patterns on the floor. What do people think?
