What do you think of this Oak Orangery Project?

We designed, managed the planning application and built an oak orangery on a Grade 2 listed building for our client in Yeovil, Somerset; their key requirements were to 'bring the outside in' so they could enjoy the garden no matter the weather and ensure a living environment that's useable all year round.

Hi Anita, thank you for your lovely comments. We do not use green oak on our orangeries based on the fact that the timber will move too much when it is exposed to changes in temperatures (heating internally) in this state and could cause breakages in the glass or encourage leaks. Instead, we season our own oak (allow the timber to dry out naturally) and select the most suitable timbers for each position, obviously it is a natural product so it will still move but it will have a lot less movement due to the fact the majority of the moisture in the centre of the beam should have already dried out. There are different options with the maintenance, depending on what aesthetic look you desire. Please feel free to call and speak to one of our designers for more details on 01384 296611.

Thank you for your reply. perhaps your photographer isn't the best at composing and displaying the quality woodwork. Got to say if I had a solid wall of cupboards like that, i would have to break them up with useful mirrors. the handles for the nice bathroom space look far too overt and noticeable for me, but maybe the client chose them.

I like this colour, it`s fresh and brings light in. I would rather use it on accessories rather than painting the whole wall of it.
