Good decision then! glass and stainless steel is how Iv decorated my own home. Think from the look of it your on the right road and can't wait to see the finished article! Only thing I would say is if possible when you do the colour scheme /dark walls=light furniture / light walls =dark furniture and may help renting furniture to get an idea of what it will look like in the room before deciding, if you have time? Nothing worse than ending up with that sofa you hate! You have good taste and think the rooms will look great!

Thank you OnePlan, I would definately of used fabric if it wasn't 10 o'clock at night!! I have to say I'm reluctantly leaving this pic on here as it really was a last minute attempt at making something out of nothing, I guess I wiil laugh next year at the reindeer paper that's laid on my table. Yours is by far more festive than mine and looking at your pic your turkey looks quite tasty too.

Hello lonec1, Thank you! : )) .. I took the inspiration from what you already have, but I just "see" what works with what is already in the picture or I just decide if there are no images or guidelines. I make very quick decisions but they are very considered if that makes any sense at all! .. .. The chest is an antique piece from Shimu and is £645 I think .. but shopping around of course you could find cheaper.. (I have discussed trade with them before) The lighting is Noguchi which I am sure you know of course, seeing as you have the table. I happen to love these and Ikea did a similar one years ago quite large with 3 legs and a bamboo circular top, but they have not had anything that good since.. .... and the chair is Eames but not one that is possibly really well known.. I loved the shelving piece antique and thought it was fantastic for behind the dining table.. With very little on it.. So it is really a piece of art.. With maybe the little lamp on it.. .. The butterfly stool (like putting your hands together at the wrists.. is Sori Yanagi.. Do ask if you need any other advice... : ))

You can definitely mix and match patterns and plains for a homely look, you just need to take care with colour co-ordination. I'm no expert, but my current furniture is a little similar to your planned scheme - I have a yellow-cream leather sofa, a bright red chair, and a chair with Paul Smith inspired stripes. There cushion colours currently include red, turquoise and gold, reflecting colours in the chairs. I think I'm just about getting away with it because the contrasting touches of turquoise pull it all together - it didn't work as well when I had just red and gold in the cushions. With your scheme, I like the spotty fabric, but I'm not sure the grey works with your other colours. I'd think about swapping this for a plain fabric and let your lovely plaid chair be the star. Maybe consider a stronger accent colour in your cushions?
