Hi I think having the bath in front of the window will make a lot of difference to the room. To move the toilet to next to the basin really should not be much of a problem it just means you will have to have the soil pipe run across the wall which could be boxed in and tiled over. With regards to the amount of noise the shower will make while running will generally depend on how high your water pressure is but generally speaking it should not be much of a problem. Great idea to bring them back. We had one and used it daily. The only problem was that in the summer the milk used to go off a bit. Nowadays I stagger downstairs and make our tea - not too bad in the summer but dark and dismal in the winter. But with fresh milk now being longer lasting there wouldn't be a problem. If the space is small then I think you should keep to one type of tile for the floors and walls. If you don’t tile one wall make sure you tile up that wall a skirting board height (tricks your eye into thinking the floor is bigger). Don’t worry about tiling behind the wc, you can access the workings of the cistern through the removable flush plate- I had to completely replace the flushing mechanism in one of mine and it was only a 10 minute job despite feeling like it was keyhole surgery!
