Hello again!! Just short of 2 years later, my den is finally finished and looks pretty much like how I've envisaged it. Few months ago, I was extremely lucky to meet this carpenter who is really good and doesn't mind building my 'designs' :)) and we got to work. After finishing the hall and main bedroom (http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/723044/hall / [https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/colour-for-unit-top-dsvw-vd~2977620[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/colour-for-unit-top-dsvw-vd~2977620)) we finally started on my den. As you'll notice, in planning the space, I've used a mixture of your ideas above: it has a secret door, a (folding) desk, it's a bit of an art gallery and has a few other surprises! The initial plan had to be altered to accommodate my new hobby :)). Almost one year ago, I had this mad idea to start painting (on) glass and then to make silly clay figurines, so I adapted the space to suit my pursuits (like the slightly tilted shelves for paints, peg board for scissors, top shelf for expo, etc). Plus, you can't really tell which of the panels are in fact secrets doors!! As for the rest, I bought a rubber mat to protect the oak floor and I'm using a trolley for the rest of the materials, so it can easily be moved out the way in case we need access to the back. Carpenter insisted on the LEDs, I'm not that keen on them. So, ignoring the arty-farty clutter, what do you think of my space?

Hey SB, I just got the updates you posted today so time difference and life business adds to not being on here. I'm glad you like the color palette. I would go for the light blue or turquoise on the walls rather than the navy because of the small room. I hope the ABA works well for you. I've heard good things about it from others I'm in a Facebook group with. We are well here. Band competitions have been our life since mid-September after school began. They end next week. Son plays saxophone.

The kitchen looks lovely. I like the table and it works well with the lights and I'd put the eames chairs with it or a mix of chairs (an old church chair is good for keeping kids colouring in stuff in but not sure of their age! ) What wood were you looking at? However having said that, your table is butt against the bar and the legs on this table are wider than the top so if you went for this one I think you'd need to go for a short table. As kikiamack said pedestal tables are good although hard to find a rectangular one (!) or as colourhappy said an old farmhouse one would work. Would an extending table also be an option? How many do you need to seat on a regular basis? Are the lights centred over the bench?

As for nursery tips, Choose a good quality cotbed with an adjustable height mattress. My daughter ultimately used her Silver Cross Nostalgia one until she was 7 (although she admittedly refused to sleep in it until she was 18 months old!) Use a sturdy, waist-high dresser as your changing table. Make sure it has sufficient depth and width for a changing pad, it’s secured to the wall, and the top drawer can easily open with one hand. Ours was the IKEA Hemnes. Add a comfortable chair, one you can sit in holding a baby then a toddler for long stretches. Choose one that will be safe for your little one when they are crawling and pulling up. We used an IKEA Poang and footstool. You’ll need a good bin for nappies. Consider your flooring/ rugs from both a comfort and an ease of cleaning standpoint... they will be subject to biological attack! Follow all safety guidelines re: baby bedding, crib-area decor, mobiles, blinds, cords, sockets, window locks, furniture safety straps, plants, etc. Choose a soft, subtle paint colour... there will be plenty of colour from toys, etc soon enough.
