Need ideas for my "In Need of Modernisation" Bungalow

I've inherited a bungalow in North Dorset and am in a dilemma as to how to modernise it without totally emptying my savings account ! It feels as though it hasn't been properly redecorated since it was built in the late 1970s and what has been done has been done rather shoddily.
This is a whole house project - not just one or two rooms
If any interior designers out there are interested in looking the place over and coming up with ideas, I'd very much like to hear from you.
