Polished or matt tiles for bathroom walls?

I have a fairly small bathroom with a VERY sloping ceiling. It has a skylight and a small round window so is reasonably light. Should I go for matt or polished wall tiles? I am looking at cream, medium format tiles. I like a 'hotel bathroom' look (a bit like in the picture). I am looking at having larger, matt tiles on the floor in the same colour.

Matt, every time, to achieve the look you want. There should be enough "gloss" from an y mirrors and glass (shower screens etc).

Hi Tony! Thank you. They don't meet - we have chalk white shaker panelling on the lower half of 3 of the walls, the ledge of which is painted a gloss muted olive paint, then pale blue on the wall above. The metro tiles are zoned around the bath and shower (with gloss olive shaker bath panelling on the side of the bath). We have raw wooden furniture in the bathroom, with a Belfast sink and water spout taps so we opted for the shaker finish to compliment the floor tiles.

It depends what type of tile you are referring to, porcelain and ceramic tiles are well-known for being low maintenance,if you regularly clean your tiles with warm water you should be fine! Please note this would not suit natural stone as it would remove the sealer - a specially designed cleaner should be purchased for these.

Thanks for your reply. I got in touch with the company I bought those tiles from and they advise me to use a matt sealer on the tiles. They recommended this one https://www.tonsoftiles.co.uk/ltp-mattstone-1l.html. Also they said I need to use a special washing liquid for the floor. The tiles are beautiful but require special care. Hopefully we will all be pleased with the final result. Thanks again!

Thinking a polished concrete bathroom, anything to consider?

It does all come to the personal preference, but just one small point: polished concrete DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GREY - certainly not the gunmetal/slightly paler grey of a prison cell that has been mentioned several times above. One of the greatest features of concrete is that it allows not just for creating shapes of your choice, but also hues. And even within the standard monochrome range you have a choice starting with black or very dark, anthracite greys to white or off-white, with every possible shade of grey in between. So this is something to consider. We have done black bathroom countertops and sinks, but also in hues of pink... The below pic is not exactly industrial (the style is more art-decoish, with highly polished dark wall panels etc) but it just shows that concrete doesn't need to evoke the inside of a destroyer's hull...
