Houzzers - how careful are you when it comes to keeping energy costs low, and what steps, if any, do you take to minimise them?

Do you consciously make an effort to buy low energy alternatives, be these bulbs or larger appliances like washing machines and dishwashers?
Does energy efficiency factor in to whether you will buy a product or not?
