Porch color, light fixtures

Hi there! We are going to be painting our front porch which is now a red color. We are wondering if we should paint it brown to go with the front door or garage door (also will be painting the trim around the garage door to match the new garage door) or if we should choose something different to add interest? Maybe grey? A different color? Also going to be changing the light fixtures and it feels like maybe we should go bigger? Also thoughts about adding decorative grilles around the perimeter of the two large front windows to break things up and make it less stark? Something with a craftsman feel maybe? Would love any advice! Thank you!!

You can it simple with colors but change it up with the materials and textures. All the colors can be the same but you could use paint for the large sections and find matching shingles for around the garage and the window area above the front door. It may be a little more expensive depending on your selections for materials however. I would lighten the house up with lighter trim, whether white or another color, because it will define each area of the home. I would match the front door and the garage door color. So in total you would have three different colors but only two different materials around the house.

I like that idea, I can install lights in the bay window ceiling. What I'm considering now, is, looking at my first lighting plan, having the L-shape row of 3 lights around the doors and an additional 1 in the bay window on one switch, but also having 2 above the bed on a separate switch, so you have a choice on where the light is falling depending on whether you're lying in bed or walking around getting ready, I'll end up with 4 lightswitches in the doorway and 3 either side of the bed then, as well as the closet switches lol, the whole room is basically hundreds of switches

Bathroom marble color

Thank you so much . This is probably combination of light & dark Emperador. But I want to use same marble in wall , floor & basin counter. Kindly give some more ideas. Tell me will light color ( with less fibre ) look better or Emperador group light shade marble will look better. I am really confused. Please friends do help. I want a beautiful elegant bathroom . Don't want white marble.

Hi Lovely, I'm loving the tiles in your bathroom and your floor tiles! So I'm with you on this one, go with your gut instinct and paint the walls blue. I suggest something along the lines of Stiffkey Blue, Oval Room Blue or Stone Blue - Farrow and Ball. Make sure you select Modern Emulsion which is designed for bathrooms and kitchen. I see there is dark blue, teals and a bit of green in your bathroom, I suggest you pick whatever works best with your tiles as they are the permanent fixture accessories don't have to be the exact matching shade as that blue. If you are painting the walls dark blue I would leave the blind as is because it has nice subtle detail and you don't want to add too much in such a small space. In terms of the accessories, I would group the plants together as well as any objects and place them in different corners. Sink area looks fine, again I wouldn't want to clutter that area. Ah okay that makes more sense. We don't have many open porches and open utility areas here in the uk. It's too cold here! With regards to lighting, in the kitchen consider adding under cabinet lighting. It's hidden so won't feel cluttered. In the dining room a pendant over the table. And the living room a pendant and some table lamps.

Can't see enough of the porch to know what you are painting. The floor of the porch?

No grilles on the windows. This is a contemporary house. Don't go muddying it up style wise with craftsman features. One thing I would do is beef up that porch post. It looks too skinny. And you could go larger and more contemporary on the garage lights.

I agree, bigger light fixtures.

The main thing that stands out to me though is the garage looks like a big dark hole in the house. I would consider painting it the same shade as the siding in order to blend in better. Next, I would choose a nice crimson/cranberry red or cedar for the front door, which currently doesn't stand out.

Personally, I be going lighter (cream) vs. dark brown for my trim as well. I'd go cedar or cedar color for the porch.

I would trim back the foliage in front so the porch can actually be seen. Here it is in gray...

However, I like the red and would go even a bit brighter, and then consider matching the wall lighting to the porch:
