Comments (6)Hi, you might want to look at Plain English by British Standard, DeVOL or Higham (this one should be the most cost effective) kitchens as alternatives. It also might be worth a while to check your local joineries to see what they have on offer and if they could deliver your design. Kitchen is often a long term investment, so might be worth upping your budget to get something that will last and that you will truly enjoy. Make sure you choose good mechanisms for drawers etc. Blum is the way forward here....See MorePOLL: shaker style kitchen vs Modern Kitchen
Comments (102)I love both, and they each have their good points and are suited to different settings. As a designer, though, I often prefer the Shaker designs - I don't know why, but they often seem to provide a bit more scope for creativity! Comments (0)Help - We are just in the process of having a new kitchen made and due to be fitted in two weeks. it will be hand painted ivory. I like the look of the black bronze drawer pulls and knobs as in Neptune and Burbridge Langton but these cabinets have black hinges. At the moment my cabinets are having stainless steel hinges or chrome so could I have the black bronze drawer pulls and knobs with these hinges or would they look odd ? Otherwise I would have to specify black hinges but then am stuck in case I do change my mind later on and decide I want silver colour drawer knobs. Any advice as I have to make up my mind imminently and don’t know what to do . I am worried as most kitchen cabinet hardware seems to be silver coloured and not many companies seem to feature black handles so it may be a bit of a fad but thought they looked nice on an ivory kitchen. Comments (4)Hey thanks for the feedback - the extractor is above the hob yes - its funny - after I took that pic I did go and check myself! It looks OK in real life too :) Thanks for the idea, I was thinking the same too. Yes the alarm sensor is moving across the room at some point. OnePlan- are you also suggesting we should place everything to the right, or keep the left one as-is? That beam actually ended up lower than we were expecting as we found out the ceiling above is partially made of concrete and was resting on the old wall that was there! Turned into a lot more work than was expected for the structural team! Thanks...See More- 8 years ago
