Comments (7)I agree with Cathy on this. Glass splash backs without the wood upstands would look great. I've used a company called Decoglaze for these in the past. They are not the cheapest, but they do a fantastic job. If you choose a light colour for the splash back, you'll need optically clear low iron glass. Otherwise the green hue of the glass will change the colour. For dark colours, you can get away with normal glass. As the glass is going behind the hob, it will need to be toughened. I'm assuming from the photo that the job is electric not gas. Have you got under cabinet lighting? This will enhance the effect of the glass quite a bit....See MoreKitchen splash back
Comments (7)All the advice about glass and tiles as a splashback are pretty permanent so why not try some other solution. I've tried tektura which is flexible and if you get fed up with it take it down and change your design...See MoreKitchen antique mirror splash back help
Comments (21)Saw an article on Apartment Therapy talking about mirrored splashbacks recently. Had some lovely photos featured, I personally preferred the options where the glass is raised up from the hob slightly. Could you maybe get a piece of the upstand cut to fill the gap? Also having it 'framed' by wall either side looks better to me than it spanning the whole space. I've mocked it up to extractor fan level and to ceiling level (I've guesstimated the tile scale but hope it gives you the idea). Personally I prefer the latter in this space as the proportions look better. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/mirror-backsplash-ideas-that-arent-from-the-70s-or-80s-248551...See Morekitchen splash back ideas
Comments (3)If you did do tiles - which would look great - say chevron style if you like these - and do a darker grout - behind the cooker does get splattered, so the darker grout would not show - the tile area needs to cover right up to the top of the kitchen cupboards and round the cooker hood. It is strange how years ago everyone stuck a piece of stainless steel there - they are a nightmare to clean, and admittedly look out of place....See More- 9 years ago
