Comments (10)Do you want modern furniture? We have just installed a copper bateau bath centrally on a wall beneath a window. We had a copy of a late 18th century potboard dresser base made and painted to house two copper basins. The modern loo and shower are round a corner, sort of in an L, so only seen from some angles as to my mind they would look odd all seen together. In the bath and basin section we've used an early oak chest on stand for storage opposite our basin unit. Floor is stone for bath, shower, loo, all up a step with oak boards and rug for the basin/ furniture area. We're very happy with the result....See MoreDesign & build firm or traditional builder?
Comments (3)D&B is certainly a much easier route but like you said you pay for it. You might save a bit going traditional, the issue there is more the hassle of project managing than having one point of contact. You can go down the traditional route if you are prepared to and able to manage the project. Having said that some architects do include coordinating their designs with the builder within their services. Might be worth getting quotes for architects and traditional builders to compare with the D&B to help make an informed decision. Another option a lot of people don't consider is having a cost/project manager. For a reasonable fee they can help you with your budget and manage the project, saving you a lot of hassle.
