What colour??

Hi

So I've recently purchased this sofa. Its upholstery not exactly to my taste as would have done something a bit dramatic, but it's still lovely and comfortable. I really don't like the colour of the wood (not an Anne Sloan person really) and looking at colour options. Had even thought about sanding back and waxing but that's just so much effort and I don't want to destroy the fabric (good quality and done very well).

What do you think. I'm going towards the darker of the colours.

I'd go for the dark colour (can't tell if it's grey or blue on my screen). It would really work with the fabric and cushions imo

I quite like the dark colour with the fabric. Think that the cushions don't really go with the sofa. A bit too plump and stark in pattern and shape, I feel.

Zarahome has some lovely cushion covers, like this one for example.

Like where you are going with the blue. Keep the curtains straight, no tie backs, replace the blind with no frills and change your occasional furniture to something more like the tv set up - not wood as your floor is wood and it makes it look at bit "twee". Darker blue/grey on the chimney breast maybe and paler walls, also more textured cushions in different shapes to add interest in neutral colours. The blues look good on your fire place and the picture too. Instead of gold why not add a brighter yellow, like the daffs, to bring modernity to the scheme? Good luck!

If you do decide upon pink - the more greyed-out, knocked-back, toned down pinks feel less sugary and can be a little less wearing on the eye than more full on PINK! But, if you have a room which feels dim, you may find you can afford to use a slightly more colourful pink than you might think, in order to show-up through the gloom. From top to bottom here the pinks become increasingly more colourful. It is possible to find a suitable pink to use in most every room : the secret is partnering the right amount of colourfulness to work with your available light.

How are you planning the corner situation if you have tall units on one wall and base units on the other? Tan tall units? Do you mean a brown colour? If so that would be a no from me. I have dove grey units and they are definitely not cold looking. They’re very neutral for mixing with other colours. Navy would give a nice contrast with the white. What colour worktops and floor are you having? A word of advice … if the white fascias are super matt they are not the easiest to keep clean. Look back through some posts on here. They look clean until you catch them in a certain light and then you can see all the marks on them which are a nightmare to remove.

The cushions are something that I just put there in regards to the colour. But agree something daintier would be better placed.

The darker colour is Mylands Blueprint.
