dining and living room interiors
Hi everyone
We have recently completed a renovation of our entire victorian terrace and we have the ground floor furniture and furnishings to finalise and I have hit decision fatigue and just can't decide on what to purchase - so any ideas will be very much appreciated. I am struggling to visualise pieces in our space. I have purchased some items:
Dining room - I have only purchased this table. I am yet to decide on chairs and chair colour and any furniture/furnishings for this room. Room is painted in french grey mid (little greene).
Living Room - I have the sofa but can't decide on curtain colour or if I should purchase blinds, coffee table a rug, etc I am looking to brighten up the room a little but want this to have a modern feel in line with the rest of the ground floor. Wall colour is Dark Lead (little greene). please disregard the furniture in the living room - only the grey sofa is staying.
I have also attached a photo of the kitchen area to give you a feel of the rest of the floor. Island is dark blue and units are beige.

Did you attach a photo of your dining table? Perhaps it's not uploaded, or I can't see it?
You've got a lovely space, with gorgeous high ceilings, so lots of options for ways to fill it. I think the living room needs some more lighting, perhaps floor lighting, as your wall colour is a darker tone.
Here's a couple of ideas:
This is a matt grey floor lamp that would blend nicely with your existing colour scheme, while offering a lot of extra light.
This is a matt black lamp that is black but still seems quite unobtrusive, because its legs and silhouette is very minimalistic. It barely has a footprint!
Here's a mirror effect pendant lamp that turns opaque when the bulb is off. It uses these beautiful Plumen 001 lightbulbs, which are really eye-catching.
These Saarinen tulip side tables are wonderful for brightening up a space. The marble options include varying shades of whites, greys and dramatic greens and blacks.
The Kasthall Goose Eye Icons rug is a classic, and the pattern would tie the room together really well.
For dining chairs, I'll have a think, and get back to you once you've posted a pic of the table. But for now, have a look at these ones for some inspiration:

Long dark living room area - how to separate dining living areas?
Comments (6)How about putting the chest of drawers under the window so it is visible when you first walk into the room. Then put the desk where the chest of drawers is currently. I would then get a large storage TV unit for the end wall where the dark furniture is. This would be best in white or taupe to keep it light in that end of the room. You could even get this made in the same units as the kitchen cupboards. I would buy new 3 seater sofas in a traditional or classic style to suit the antiques in a beige colour linen and then two armchairs in a patterned material - floral or stripe to suit your personal taste. I would keep the sofas in the same position and place the two armchairs facing the TV unit, side by side. You would need to make sure the armchairs were placed so they were easy to walk around and they would need to be small but comfortable. Keep the table where it is and update the lamp to a more statement piece. An orchid (fake or real) on the chest of drawers would add a touch of class. I quite like the rug that is there as it goes nicely with the antiques and you could bring out the blues with a few duck egg blue coloured cushions, and a duck egg blue roman blind would soften the window. Comments (18)Hi Amy, I agree with many of the points above, I can see the wall behind the sofa in a dark colour to zone the seating area. I would suggest maybe a funky roman blind at the kitchen window with matching cushions on the sofa. The unit next to the table looks a bit low for the room, could you go for something higher, maybe another sideboard to match the one under the tv unit this will also create more storage and create more balance in the room. I would go for a simple rustic wooden table with a mix of modern chairs to bring some more natural finishes into the room. As above a large rug which goes under the front legs of the sofa and up to the tv unit would help cosy up the seating area and zone the space. As for bifold window finishings, you do not really have room to have pull back curtains at the sides so I think it has to be simple roller blinds, you can get sheer ones that will prevent the daytime glare, are you actually overlooked or would they be adequate at night?...See MorePainting Living Room/Dining Room

Do you have a photo? What are the other furniture do you have ? Any photos ? Do you like colours pastels or brights ? What are your favourite colours ? Do you have a favourite shirt, skirt, jumper that has a pattern or style to it? photo please. Do you have a picture or photos that have a coloured frame ? What colour? Do you like plants ? or you have any already ? Are their any sentimental objects ? what is it, description ? What is the rug you want to buy is there a pic of it ? Are you thinking of some sort of fire, faux stove, or a TV for a focal point in the room ? Do you want to have a workspace in the area too? Hi Beanie,What an amazing space. And how lovely that it's now time to add the finishing touches. Mustard is a lovely partner to grey so what about introducing a shade like that in accessories like cushions, throws and blinds? It's also a great way to stop the grey from feeling cold.

6 years agoIt looks a great space, the lights are fab! I like colourhappys cognac idea although I also like the lead colour with a little dark green (as seen in the kitchen!). I think the vitra Belleville chairs would go well, they come in cognac or tan (depending on shade of cognac!). Marble goes well with brass and cocktail trolleys can look fab (would also add a very large plant). I'd probably continue the walnut for a coffee table, this is from westelm and I also like the rug seen in the picture which is cognac with a grey blue colour. Curtains could look nice in the wall colour, depends if you want to see the window frames or not

Thanks for the photo, what a lovely dining table!
As your room has quite a dark tone to it due to the colour of the walls and the table, I think the dining chairs need to be a bit brighter to bring some light to the room. And I'd choose a warm tone, rather than a blue or dark colour. I like colourhappys and hillarys suggestions of mustard or cognac. Warm, earthy tones look great paired with grey.

The Belleville chair (as suggested above by minnie101) is a wonderfully simple design that is unobtrusive and characterful. The brown version would be a good choice for bringing warmer tones to your room. More info

6 years agoOne last question - I have had my eye on these armchairs for some time but not sure they will work in the living room (the all grey room). It comes in a pistachio green, brick orange, dusty rose and banana print.
