external insulation? 1930s house

we are buying this house and intend to do an ecorenovation. believe it has cavity wall which have subsequently been filled although not sure of exact details. is external insulation appropriate as some places suggest that only for solid walls but not clear why?
want to do as much of the work as possible ourselves. most external insulation systems seem to have to be done professionally. Any ideas for what we can do? happy to consider alternative cladding as opposed to whit render. quite fancy a mix of materials.

We externally insulated our 1930s (solid wall) house. It's definitely a skilled job that I would leave to the experts. It's made a big difference for us and the render looks better and stays cleaner than what was there before. I would ask your questions on a green building forum and maybe get a reputable external insulation company to advise too. Good luck

Is there a particular reason why you want to further insulate a cavity wall insulated house. I notice the EPC is C rated, so that's quite good on a house of that age.

I don't know of any reason however, why you can't further insulate with External Insulation on a Cavity Wall. So, if that's what you want then go for it. However, I'd probably go for the professionals also, not least of which, because you need scaffolding all around to do the job properly.

Hey So the latest update is that we're still busy with the project but in the closing stages. We've done a lot of work inside more than originally planned we've gutted the house and replaced everything and changed the floor plan to modernise it and make more of an open plan space downstairs. We've done the rear extension which is now dedicated to kitchen with a central island running parallel with the doors . On the outside the house has had external insulation fitted and new render which makes it look new. I've attached some recent pics. Richard

Hi We are doing the floor insulation and some water plumbing ourselves - the house is strip to the joists and this is the last of the DYI phase before we get builders in to plaster, do the tiling, floor etc.
