That may be an issue. I'd image the size of fire if it was very large could have an impact. Many people do have tv's above large fireplaces with no apparent problems. The heat given off really shouldn't be to great at all. You wouldn't get warm standing in front of one but the heat would likely rise. Really as long as the TV is far enough away and for a bioethanol fire it shouldn't really have to be too great at all. I'd think it would work out just fine. The alternative of a gas fire would give out a much greater heat. Best of luck with your project.

That looks soo much better. I see what celerygirl is saying............if anything the mirror is too big. I'd have it the same size as the fireplace and lower. It currently over shoots the height of the door opening. Really like the T.V area - excellent!

My vision for this project would be to use slate surround and black fireplace hearth with materials like limestone or granite. This will make the fireplace a statement piece in your room, as opposed to eye popping element. The stove needs updating but it will still work as soon as the tiling is removed. This is my personal preference but I'd go for solid materials; colours - black fireplace or grey fireplace (just a few materials to generate ideas) to give the existing fireplace a total makeover. Are you considering changing the wall paper? A plain or textured one would work best no patterns)? What do you think?

Lol. You should clarify the scope of work with any trades person you hire. Don't assume anything! I would suggest a competent handyman. You could hire an electrician but that might work out more expensive. You could also go to a Home Audio Visual Installation company but they can work out the most expensive. They do, however, offer many more services like fitting surround sound systems, ceiling speakers, home cinema systems etc. So generally you would get a handful of quotes, making sure you have explained exactly what you want done and then pick the most reasonable one. You can try sites like mybuilder.com to find local trades people. They can give you quotes online.
