I think your eventual choice will depend on the colour you pick for the units. While creams/sand/limestone coloured doors will work nicely with your choice of granite, I still think white will go too. As to tiles, I'd probably go for a porcelain with a bit of physical texture (some "grit") and tones which mix beiges through to greys. This should pick up the mix of the granite. Alternatively, I'd look at wood effect Karndean or Palioclik (possibly Arezzo) in a Sand Oak type colour. Sample image here. Hope this gives you some ideas - and let us know what you decide! Hi Cake lady thanks for your comment. I have considered the wood effect tiles. However the kitchen adjoins a hall which has an oak laminate floor. I'm concerned the two different types of wood will clash. what do you think? Good to know they're low maintenance. I'm steering well away from gloss tiles as spent years trying to keep black gloss tiles clean in our bathroom. Finally replaced last year !

There seems to be too much going on in your kitchen which is jarring, with colour and everything crowded around the old chimney breast. Perhaps the simplest thing to do might be to remove the backsplash and paint all the walls a warm neutral to tie in with the cupboard doors. I think the upper cupboards on the LHS of the old chimney breast could be removed to give a greater sense of space. As Jonathan has said, under cabinet lighting will brighten the space.

Another suggestion is Dulux Egyptian Cotton. I had it in my bedroom and it does have slight pink undertones so maybe worth getting a sample pot. It is quite similar to Skimming Stone. I suggest you paint your samples onto A4 cards and try them on different walls in the room stuck with some blue tack. I was advised to do this and it really helps. It works better than lots of paint samples on a wall which can be confusing. Purbeck Stone is a lovely taupe. This is Egyptian Cotton.
